Understanding Tatevatsi Economics Olympiad

TEO connects Armenia’s brightest students from over a hundred schools, engaging thousands of students in grades 10, 11, and 12, and giving them a platform to shine on a global stage.
Note that Participation in TEO is completely free, ensuring that economic education and opportunity remain accessible to all students in Armenia.
The Structure of TEO
The Olympiad has 3 competitive rounds, each designed to evaluate different dimensions of economic understanding and problem-solving: School round, National round and International round.
School Round
This round consists of an online test open to students in grades 10, 11, and 12 across Armenia focused on foundational economic concepts. The accessible format allows every eligible student, regardless of their school’s background, to participate and demonstrate their potential.
National Round
After the School Round top scorers are invited to the National Round. Held in Yerevan, this round includes both written and oral components, allowing participants to demonstrate their advanced economic understanding and analytical skills. The National Round is available in both languages and students can choose whether they want to take the tests in Armenian or English.
International Round
The five top-performing students from the National Round—who complete both the test and oral examination in English—represent Armenia at the International Economics Olympiad, hosted by EconomicsOlympiad.org. Competing against national winners from over 20 countries, they showcase their economic insight on a world-class stage.
What Participants Should Know to Join: No Advanced Knowledge Required
Dedicated to enhancing economic and financial literacy across Armenia, TEO demands preparation and a solid foundation in core concepts if one wants to reach the International Round. It is in their interest to be familiar with topics such as:
Basic principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics
Personal budgeting and financial planning
Real-world economic events and current economic issues (inflation, unemployment, etc.)
Familiarity with economic trends both local and global will greatly enhance performance.
Note: All high school students are eligible to participate and take the exam, even if their school does not offer economics as a separate subject.

Registration Process: How Schools Apply for the TEO
Applications for the Olympiad are submitted by schools, not by individual students.
Once registered, the school is granted the opportunity to organize the School Round, which is conducted online under the supervision of an appointed school representative. The exam is administered according to a pre-agreed schedule, in coordination with our team.
All 10-12 grades students enrolled in the registered school are eligible to participate in the Olympiad, regardless of their academic performance or grades.
This model ensures that the competition is well-organized, structured, and accessible to all educational institutions across Armenia.
School registration for TEO 2026 will begin in September 2025.
